Mazoezi ya kunyoosha na kulainisha viungo  ni aina ya mazoezi ambayo hupuuzwa na wengi. Mazoezi haya ni pamoja na kujinyoosha (strech) na mazoezi maalum ya viungo, kama yoga. Tujue umuhimu wa kufanya aina hii ya mazoezi ili kudumisha afya na furaha.
Zifuatazo ni sababu tano za kufanya mazoezi ya kulainisha na kunyoosha viungo:
Kulainisha maungio/viungo baada ya kulala kwa muda mrefu
Miili yetu hupumzika kufanya kazi tunapokuwa tumelala. Hii ina maana kwamba, kasi ya mapigo ya moyo na mzunguko wa damu hupungua kidogo.
Lakini pia tunapokuwa tumelala, viungo na maungio havifanyi kazi. Haya yote husababisha hali ya misuli na maungio kukakamaa kidogo kwa muda. Tunapoamka asubuhi inashauriwa kujinyoosha ili kuondoa kukakamaa kwa maungio na misuli, pia kurudisha hali ya kawaida ya mzunguko wa damu na kuandaa mwili na shughuli zinazohusisha kujongea/kutembea.
Kulainisha misuli na maungio kabla ya kuanza mazoezi
Unapofanya mazoezi, mwili wako hutumia nguvu za ziada. Ili kukabiliana na hilo, mzunguko wa damu unatakiwa kuwa tayari kusafirisha virutubisho vinavyohitajika katika kutengeneza nguvu. Misuli pia inatakiwa kuwa tayari kukabiliana na kazi ya ziada.
Mazoezi ya kunyoosha na kulainisha viungo husaidia kuuandaa mzunguko wa damu na misuli kukabiliana na hitaji kubwa la nguvu, hivyo inashauriwa aina hii ya mazoezi kabla ya kuanza mazoezi ya aina nyingine.
Kurudisha misuli, maungio na mzunguko wa damu katika hali ya kawaida baada ya kufanya mazoezi (recovery)
Mara baada ya kumaliza mazoezi, misuli, maungio na mzunguko wa damu huwa katika hali ya kufanya mazoezi. Maana yake mzunguko wa damu huwa mkubwa na misuli huwa imetanuka. Tunapomaliza kufanya mazoezi, misuli na mzunguko wa damu vinatakiwa kurudi katika hali zake za kawaida. Mazoezi ya kunyoosha na kulainisha viungo kama vile ‘stretch ups’ husaidia kurudisha hali hiyo. Kwa maana hiyo, inashauriwa kufanya aina hii ya mazoezi kila baada ya kufanya aina nyingine za mazoezi.
Kuzuia magonjwa ya maungio (joint illnesses)
Kutokunyoosha na kulainisha misuli na maungio kwa muda mrefu huweza kusababisha kukakamaa kwa sehemu hizi za mwili. Hii huchangia kutokea kwa magonjwa ya maungio/viungo kama vile Arthritis na mengine.
Maumivu sugu ya mgongo huweza pia kusababishwa na ukosefu wa mazoezi ya kunyoosha na kulainisha viungo. Kujenga tabia ya kufanya aina hii ya mazoezi hutukinga na magonjwa ya maungio (kitaalamu joint illnesses).
Kupumzisha akili
Mazoezi kama yoga husaidia sana ubongo kupumzika, kitu ambacho ni muhimu kwa afya. Mazoezi ya yoga na mazoezi mengine ya kulainisha na kunyoosha viungo husaidia mzunguko wa damu kuwa mzuri. Hii huongeza kiasi cha damu kinachokwenda kwenye ubongo na viungo vingine, kitu ambacho ni muhimu sana katika kupumzika. Inashauriwa sana kufanya yoga na mazoezi mengine ya kujinyoosha kusaidia mwili kupumzika.
