SERIKALI ya Awamu ya Tano kupitia Taasisi ya Moyo Jakaya Kikwete (JKCI), imewashauri wananchi kujenga utamaduni wa kupima afya mara kwa mara ili kuweza kugundulika mapema iwapo wanasumbuliwa na magonjwa mbalimbali.
Hayo yamesemwa na Daktari Bingwa wa Magonjwa ya Moyo wa Taasisi hiyo, Tulizo Sanga alipozungumza na waandishi wa habari wakati wa Maadhimisho ya Siku ya Moyo Duniani yaliyofanyika katika viwanja vya Taasisi hiyo jijini Dar es Salaam.
Dk Sanga alisema tafiti zinaonesha zaidi ya watu milioni 17 hupoteza maisha kutokana na kuugua magonjwa ya moyo kila mwaka duniani.
“Ni magonjwa ambayo husababisha vifo vya watu wengi duniani huku hali ikionekana kuwa mbaya zaidi katika nchi zinazoendelea,” alisema Dk Sanga.
Alisema tafiti zinaonesha pia zaidi ya watu milioni 75 huugua magonjwa hayo kila mwaka duniani.
“Tanzania bado hatujafanya utafiti wa kina lakini tangu Taasisi hii imeanza kufanya kazi tunaona zaidi ya wagonjwa 300 kwa siku na wengi huja wakiwa katika hatua mbaya ya ugonjwa,” alisema.
Alisema tangu Septemba 25 hadi 29, mwaka huu madaktari wa JKCI wamewafanyia upasuaji wagonjwa 28 kwa kushirikiana wenzao wa Taasisi ya Madaktari Afrika ikiwa ni sehemu ya maadhimisho hayo.
Kwa upande wake, Mtaalamu wa lishe wa Taasisi ya Moyo Jakaya Kikwete (JKCI), Louiza Shem alisema mfumo mbovu wa maisha hasa ulaji usiofaa na kutokufanya mazoezi kunachangia wengi kupata magonjwa ya moyo.
“Kwa bahati nzuri hamna chakula ambacho mtu hatakiwi kutumia ili kujiepusha na magonjwa ya moyo, huwa tunashauri jinsi gani na kwa kiasi gani uvitumie ili kuepuka kupata magonjwa haya,” alisema.
Mtaalamu huyo alitoa mfano “Kuna vyakula vya wanga kama vile wali, ugali na vinginevyo, unakuta mtu anakula… amejaza sahani.
“Unapaswa kula kulingana na aina ya kazi unayofanya, kwa mfano wengi ambao tunafanya kazi ofisini hatutumii nguvu nyingi kulinganisha na wale wanaobeba mizigo, wengi tunakula nyama kwa kiwango kikubwa, ni vema kupunguza kiasi.”
“Mafuta yanayopatikana kwenye nyama zinaongeza uzito kupita kiasi na huenda kuziba mishipa ya damu, ikiwa ni ya kichwani utapooza mwili na ikiwa ni kwenye moyo utapata ‘heart attack’,” alibainisha.
Alishauri pia jamii kupunguza kiwango cha chumvi kwani inapotumika kwa kiwango kikubwa huathiri afya ya moyo.
“Kundi kubwa tunaloona linaathirika na magonjwa haya ni wale waliopo kwenye umri wa uzalishaji na umri unavyozidi kuongezeka ndivyo uwezekano wa mtu kupata ugonjwa huu unavyoongezeka,” alisema.
